Karen Stewart

Karen Stewart grew up in Calgary, Alberta close to the Rocky mountains, where she developed a love of skiing, hiking and water sports. She attended the University of Calgary graduating in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts and in 1982 with a Bachelor of Laws. After taking a year off to travel, Karen articled at a large Calgary law firm, then was called to the Alberta Bar in 1984. Karen focused on civil litigation in the early years of her career. In 1987 Karen earned an LLM from the University of Cambridge. In 1990 she worked in the UN High Commission for Refugees office in Belize and drafted the Refugee Act for the Government of Belize. In 1991 Karen became a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and moved to Parksville, British Columbia where she has provided legal services to residents since 1992. Over the years Karen has been active in the Parksville/Qualicum community as a director of the Oceanside Hospice Society, vice president of the Vancouver Island Opera Society and a member of the Parksville Chamber of Commerce. Karen sings in 3 local choirs and enjoys hiking, canoeing and travelling.

Karen has provided legal services to the Parksville/Qualicum community for over 30 years before joining CR Lawyers LLP.
