Laura comes to the legal field after a 15-year career in social services. A natural people person, she prioritizes community well-being and helping individuals get their needs met. As an advocate, Laura is not afraid to use her voice. She was elected as President of the Law Students’ Society by her peers in law school, running a platform as “a great listener who never shuts up.”
She is someone who believes that information is not proprietary, and that the true impact of shared knowledge and resources is collective, rather than individual. An avid learner, Laura spent a year as a researcher for the Law Commission of Ontario while simultaneously working in the law library at Lakehead University. In life before law, Laura provided information and referral through 211, supported children and youth with severe behavioural concerns in schools, and worked in addiction and recovery.
Now focusing her skills on supporting businesses and individuals, Laura has a particular interest in the areas of labour and employment law and civil litigation. Although court may be necessary at times, Laura is creative and will work to attain a fair result that is also affordable for her clients.
Laura was born and raised in Thunder Bay, moving to Vancouver Island in 2018 following an 8-year stopover in Alberta. She joins CR Lawyers LLP now as an articling student, having worked here as a summer student before returning to law school to graduate.
Laura is known to be a plant lover, hardcore thrifter, and devout water enthusiast who enjoys swimming and paddle boarding.
